The Studio
Sadler Associates was founded over thirty years ago as a private design studio by Ken Sadler, a First Class Honours graduate of the Royal College of Art, School of Industrial Design (Engineering). The course also included studies at Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, London and the award of a RCA travelling scholarship offered continued art and science based study and work in Italy. Professional life commenced by working for a consultancy and companies such as GEC, Philips and Pye of Cambridge. Research into mobility for the disabled and qualifications in architecture provided a broader basis leading to the formation of the practice. From the beginning the studio has been committed to a creative approach based on the best principles of innovation and effective management.
Ken was invited by the Design Council to work on design management and provided a paper to launch the BS 7000, Guide to Managing Design. He also contributed to James Pilditch’s famous book, ‘Winning Ways’.
